Drawing as Communication

Just as a writer or a poet creates written expressions of thought, an artists communicates visually through the use of images from life and imagination. The process of drawing heightens the awareness of what one sees, often times we do not really SEE until we begin to draw an object.  To observe life with the purpose of recording it on paper, the viewer becomes acutely aware of curves and nuances of subject matter that are typically missed by the casual observer. An artist unique style is as individualized as their own handwriting.  Many Artists develop a style often that is so unique it is recognizable on first sight with seeing the artist signature.  Georgia O’Keeffe has such an unusual style her paintings are often recognized as her work before ever seeing her signature.  As you progress you will develop your own style. Will you be a realistic artist? or will you prefer a more stylized content in your work.
